not a recruitment company!

There have been a few occasions since we set up Tower Consultancy that people have made the genuine mistake of thinking we actually do recruitment rather than consultancy.  In fairness perhaps there are similarities between the two. Therefore I wanted to clear up any confusion and clarify the differences between what consultancy is and what a recruitment company do. 

In the first instance consultancy does not involve us placing permanent members of staff into businesses, unlike recruitment.  Our consultants are placed on a fixed term/interim basis depending on the needs of the client.  This can be for as little as 3 months and for as long as the client needs the support.  Consultants are therefore never employed by the client when they are taken on.  Our consultants are all self employed and work on a freelance basis.  Consultants tend to be hired to fulfil a specific project or need for the business whereas recruitment puts people into positions within the company to carry out a particular role. 

We work with many highly skilled consultants all throughout the UK who are freelance and self employed as mentioned before.  When we receive an enquiry through from a client for support required, we can then reach out to whoever we feel best matches from a skill set perspective.  Our consultants each specialise in either Sales, Revenue, Operations or Marketing.  Therefore we cover the main commercial areas of hospitality business. 

What do consultants actually do? 

The beauty of hiring a consultant is that they can support with (mostly!) anything you require them to!  The majority of enquiries we get from clients are for sales support.  We have worked with hotels and venues to increase business from specific target markets ie travel trade or project work.  We also can provide consultants, and here is where the confusion may come in, to “fill a gap” whilst they recruit for a permanent position.  This allows the business to function as normal even though they are recruiting for a key role. 

So there you have it, the differences between a consultancy agency and a recruitment company.
